Personal, a US-based data management service to prevent companies from tracking, compiling and selling digital information without people’s consent, has raised $7.6m in its series A round.
Media investment bank Allen & Company joined a consortium including venture capital firms Grotech Ventures and Revolution and angel investor Eric Semler of TCS Capital Management.
Personal was founded in 2009 by the same management team, led by executive president Shane Green, that built The Map Network, a service for businesses to manage their own location content and map data, acquired by Nokia subsidiary NAVTEQ in 2006.
