Daily Deal Round Up: 11 March, 2022

Denmark-based neobank Lunar has closed its €280m ($307m) series D round, which is backed by internet group Tencent, after a €70m ($77m) extension at a $2bn valuation, TechCrunch has reported. Other investors include Heartland, Kinnevik and IDC Ventures. It raised an initial $249m tranche in July last year.

US-based oncology treatment developer RefleXion Medical has received $80m in funding from pharmaceutical firms Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson through Pfizer Ventures and Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC respectively. The round was filled out by Ascension Ventures, Catalio Capital Management, Hillenbrand Capital Partners, Sixty Degree Capital, KCK Group, TPG’s The Rise Fund, Ally Bridge Partners, PSP Investments, Venrock and T Rowe Price.

Silent Eight, a Singapore-based artificial intelligence platform for financial sanctions enforcement and crime prevention, has raised $40m in series B funding from financial services firms Standard Chartered and HSBC’s respective corporate venturing units SC Ventures and HSBC Ventures. TYH led the round, which featured OTB Ventures, Wavemaker Partners, Aglaia and private investor Koh Boon Hwee.

Israel-based cybersecurity technology provider Cybersixgill has received $35m in series B funding from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike’s Falcon Fund and crowdfunding platform OurCrowd. Publisher Relx Group’s Rev Venture Partners unit led the round with backing from Elron Ventures and SonaeIM.

US-based in-home and virtual primary care provider Nice Healthcare has raised $30m in a series A round featuring Conductive Ventures, a growth equity firm sponsored by electronics manufacturer Panasonic. DNA Capital led the round and was joined by Waterline Ventures, Santa Barbara Venture Partners, Brown Venture Group, FR Bigelow Foundation and private investors Eddie Cisneros and Daren Cotter.

Slingshot Aerospace, a US-based space simulation and analytics technology provider, has secured $25m in a series A-1 round featuring aerospace and defence company Lockheed Martin’s corporate venturing subsidiary Lockheed Martin Ventures. Draper Associates and ATX Venture Partners co-led the round, with participation from Edison Partners, Embedded Ventures, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Fund, Okapi Venture Capital, Valor Equity Partners and unnamed other investors.

US-based video game developer Burlingame Studios has raised $20m in funding from mobile games studio Scopely, with plans to create a game together.

India-based audio content platform Kuku FM has secured $19.5m in a funding round led by gaming company Krafton, with backing from 3one4 Capital, India Quotient and Vertex Ventures.

Safebase, a US-based platform to share and access secure documents, raised $18m in series A funding from investors including mass media company Comcast’s corporate venturing unit Comcast Ventures. New Enterprise Associates led the round with backing from Y Combinator.

China-based smart manufacturing technology producer Wuhan BSG Technology has reeled in $15.8m in a series A round led by electronics manufacturer Xiaomi.

UK-based insurance provider for cargo and freight MGA Loadsure has received $11m in series A funding from maritime and logistics company Crowley, with backing from Insurtech Gateway and lead investor MMC Ventures.

Smartbrain, a Brazil-based producer of investment management software, raised R$51.5m ($10m) in funding last month from financial services firm Bradesco’s corporate venturing unit, Inovabra Ventures.

Accountancy and consulting firm PwC’s German branch led an $8.8m series A round for local industrial internet-of-things technology developer Cybus. BTOV Partners filled out the round alongside private investors Andreas Pfannenberg and Henrik Schunk.

Germany-based business-to-business car trading platform 2trde secured €7m ($7.6m) in seed funding from Adevinta Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of online classifieds company Adevinta. Aster Capital and Maniv Mobility.

Hospitality services company Sodexo and electric bicycle manufacturer House of Lithium were among the investors that provided $7.5m in pre-series A funding for Colombia-founded sidewalk delivery robot producer Kiwibot last month alongside Headline and unnamed others.

US-based e-commerce marketplace for footwear and apparel Kicks Crew has raised $6m in a series A round co-led by entertainment information aggregator Complex China, Pacific Century Group and Gobi Partners.

Clean Crop Technologies, a US-based provider of high-voltage catalyst technology to protect crops, has raked in $6m in a series A round co-led by insurance provider Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company’s Catalyst Fund. ReGen Ventures and Trailhead Capital also led the round, which featured Active Impact, Innova Memphis, the Alchemy Fund, Bread & Butter Ventures, Prime Impact Fund, DC Thomson Capital and Middleland Capital’s VTC Ventures unit.

US-based inventory management software provider Helixintel has raised $4m in seed funding from insurance provider Munich Re’s HSB fund, along with Motivate Ventures, Stellifi, Lab Ventures and Green Egg Ventures.

US-based decentralised finance technology developer Swim Protocol has raised $4m in a seed round featuring cryptocurrency exchanges FTX and Coinbase, the latter through its Coinbase Ventures unit, quantitative trading firms Alameda Research and Jump Trading (through Jump Capital) and blockchain technology developer Solana’s investment arm, Solana Ventures. Pantera Capital led the round, which also included Bonfida, Panony, Mantis VC, GBV Capital, IOSG Ventures, Rok Capital and Social Capital.

Playwind Games, a UK-based mobile game developer, has received $4m in a round led by game developer Garena.

US-based contactless payment technology developer Paerpay raised $3m in a seed round led by insurance provider Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company’s Catalyst Fund, joined by the state-backed firm MassVentures, The Fund, Gaingels, Chingona Ventures, Techstars and Elevate Capital.

Epic League, a US-based developer of blockchain-based games, raised $1m in seed funding from gaming guild YGGSEA and gaming developer WeMade. The round was filled out by Infinity Ventures Crypto, Global Blockchain Innovative Capital, private investor Thomas Vu and unnamed others.

Aria, an Indonesia-based provider of drones and internet-of-things technology to monitor agriculture productivity, raised an undisclosed amount of pre-seed funding from rubber manufacturer Triputra Group, logistics services provider WareSix and financial services company Sahabat Group. GK Plug and Play Indonesia led the round, which was also backed by East Ventures.

Altered State Machine, an artificial intelligence technology provider for the multiverse, raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from investors including media conglomerate Warner Music Group, cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase’s CVC unit Coinbase Ventures, cryptocurrency research firm Delphi Digital and blockchain technology provider Quandefi. The round was led by The Chernin Group and filled out by AirTree VC, 6th Man Ventures, Blockchain Founders Fund, Dialectic, Flamingo DAO, Muse Capital, Outlier Ventures, DACM, Raised in Space and executives from GoldenTree Asset Management, along with private investors Baby Keem and Nas.
