Diarte bids SE Ventures adieu

Heriberto Diarte has left his position as CEO of France-headquartered energy management and automation equipment manufacturer Schneider Electric’s corporate venture capital (CVC) arm, SE Ventures, it has confirmed to Global Corporate Venturing.

Diarte founded SE Ventures in 2017 in the United States to help Schneider Electric drive its open innovation efforts, and was part of the GCV Powerlist in 2019, 2020 and 2021. The unit’s fund size stands at €500m ($565m), and general partners Grant Allen and Varun Jain have been long-term corporate venturers.

Amit Chaturvedy (pictured) has been appointed managing partner of SE Ventures, having previously been global head of enterprise technology at Cisco Investments, the CVC and mergers and acquisitions subsidiary of networking equipment producer Cisco, since 2014.

At Cisco Investments, Chaturvedy concentrated on areas including enterprise infrastructure, cloud and data centres.

Chaturvedy also helped Cisco begin investing in internet-of-things technology, and worked on completing strategic acquisitions and partnerships.

Regarding his new role, Chaturvedy said in a statement: “In the face of global energy demand, there is a massive opportunity to leverage the modern enterprise technology stack and create innovative solutions in energy management, electrification and automation – but it requires swift action.

“I look forward to partnering the business leaders at Schneider Electric to tackle the most pressing challenges and help Schneider Electric in its mission to be the digital partner for sustainability and efficiency.”

SE Ventures has so far made 38 direct investments, incubated eight businesses and committed to four external funds, having also worked on more than 200 projects with entrepreneurs.
