Andrew Maywah joined TDK Ventures, the corporate venture capital (CVC) arm of Japan-based electronics manufacturer TDK, in July 2019.
Nicolas Sauvage, president of TDK Ventures, said of Maywah: “He is a patient, prudent, and thorough investor. He looks at every aspect of an investment before deciding. But once he decides, he is going to be all in for his portfolio companies’ founders, helping them raise money, receive many diverse and high-value ‘TDK Goodness’, and provide guidance and help whenever it makes sense.”
TDK Ventures invests in early-stage technology companies focused on materials science, health, transportation, robotics and industrial technology, mixed reality and the internet of things.
Prior to joining TDK Ventures, Maywah was partner at private equity firm Silver Tiger Capital between 2016 and 2018, where he led cross-border minority investments and M&A transactions across the healthcare, education and technology sectors.
He previously spent a year-and-a-half as project leader as Go Scale Capital, prior to which he spent almost two years as chief executive of Toujuwang, a property rental platform he co-founded. This followed year-long stints as chief financial officer of media technology company Base FC Beijing and vice-president of intelligent internet technology company Maxit Technology.
His fellow investment director at TDK Ventures, Anil Achyuta, added: “Andrew is a very thorough investor who considers the full spectrum of possibilities before investing in a startup, which makes him a top-notch venture capitalist. His honesty, sincerity and humbleness in exploring areas that are outside of his comfort zone are noteworthy.
“I have also seen Andrew driving meaningful partnerships with TDK Corporation in the robotics and autonomous mobility space, which I believe to be major areas of growth for TDK.”
