Juniper Networks’ corporate venturing arm, the Junos Innovation Fund, has joined a series A round for IStreamPlanet, a US-based developer of live streaming video technology, following a collaboration between two at the London Olympic Games.
Intel Capital, the eponymous chipmaker’s corporate venturing arm, led the A round, in which strategic investors Interxion and Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) also participated.
Intel Capital committed $7m to iStreamPlanet in 2011, with Turner and Interxion investing in 2012, taking the total to around $9m. The company is reported to have been seeking about $11m in its series A.
IStreamPlanet provides technology that allows media companies to stream live video, such as the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games where the company worked with Intel.
TBS’s investment came after the two companies collaborated on live streaming the Nascar Coca Cola 400.
