Alfred Lo has joined AMP New Ventures, the corporate venturing unit subsidiary up by Australia-based financial services firm AMP earlier this year, and will head the unit.
Lo previously served as principal of Optus-Innov8, the Australian seed fund established by Australia-based telecommunications company Optus and Singtel Innov8, the investment arm of Singapore-based telecoms firm SingTel. He joined the fund in 2012.
AMP New Ventures was formed in March 2015 by Jonathan Dean, chief innovation officer for AMP, to invest in digital technology companies that can complement AMP’s own offerings.
Grant Smuts had reportedly joined the unit from media company APN to act as its director of new ventures, but has instead served as vice president of corporate development for shopping network QVC since July 2015.
