N-trig, an Israel-based developer of digital pens and chips for touchscreens, has been acquired by technology company Microsoft, Reuters reported earlier today.
N-trig has attracted $155m in funding from investors including Microsoft, which participated in a $24m series D round in 2009 alongside oil and gas drilling services contractor Challenger, a $31m series E closed in 2012, a $15m series F in 2013 and a $10m series G in May 2014.
Challenger also joined a series C round in 2008 that raised $28m.
Microsoft owned 6.1% of the company before the acquisition, and had signed a deal with the company to integrate N-trig’s pen technology in the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet devices in 2014.
Microsoft will integrate N-trig’s staff into its local outfit Microsoft Israel, where they will become part of a new research and development sources.
Other investors in N-trig include Evergreen Venture Partners, Canaan Partners, Tamares, Aurum Ventures, Mariner Investment Group, and angel investor Benjamin Kahn.
