Nokia goes for Gigwalk

US-based visibility software platform Gigwalk has raised $10m in a series B round led by Nokia Growth Partners (NGP), the corporate venturing fund for Finland-based mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.

NGP was joined in the round by Randstad Innovation Fund, the corporate venturing fund newly launched by Netherlands-based human resources provider Randstad, as well as venture capital firms August Capital, Harrison Metal and SoftTech, all of which are returning investors.

Founded in 2010, Gigwalk has now raised approximately $17.7m, and past investors include Greylock Partners, Founder Collective and angel investor Omar Hamoui. The company’s platform enables brands and retailers to track and organise synergies and collaboration.

Paul Asel, managing partner at Nokia Growth Partners, said: “NGP is excited to invest in Gigwalk as they are disrupting how enterprises get local work done. The company’s robust technology platform and massive Gigwalker network is changing the speed, cost and effectiveness of doing distributed local work.”

Gigwalk will use the investment to enhance and scale its software platform, expand partnerships with consumer brands and retailers, and hire additional staff. These will include David Hale, who had joined as vice president of Business Development and Operations, and Molly Glover Gallatin, who is Gigwalk’s new vice president of Marketing.
