Oray forages for $40m

Internet group Tencent has backed a $40m funding round for Oray, a China-based developer of remote network connection technology, 36Kr reported on Monday.

GL Ventures, the venture capital subsidiary of hedge fund manager Hillhouse Capital, led the round, which included growth equity firm Gaocheng Capital.

Founded in 2006, Oray has created software-as-a-service products including intranet penetration tool Huashengke (Peanut Shell), remote control platform Xiangrikui (Sunflower) and Pugongying (Dandelion), a remote virtual local area network connection offering.

The funding will go toward talent recruitment, global expansion and technology research and development. Gaocheng Capital had provided an eight-digit dollar amount for Oray in July 2020, and it has not revealed details of its earlier funding.
