China-based fintech platform Pintec raised $103m yesterday in a funding round co-led by online media company Sina and venture capital firm Mandra Capital.
The round was also supported by STI Financial Group, Shunwei Capital Partners and Zhong Capital Holding, as well as additional, unnamed investors.
Pintec operates a range of financial services products that rely on artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain. Its products include lending platform Dumiao and robo-advisory tool Polaris.
Sina and Pintec have signed a strategic partnership agreement as part of the investment that will leverage traffic from Sina’s social media platform Weibo and Pintec’s fintech expertise to develop more products and attract more clients.
The money will go towards research and development, traffic integration, risk management and operations.
