Chip and telecoms company Qualcomm’s healthcare unit Qualcomm Life, formed an advisory council and added partners in February to test products produced by its 2net wireless health connectivity system.
The partners of Qualcomm were Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, Sharp HealthCare and Advanced Warning Systems, Qualcomm said.
50 businesses are integrating Qualcomm Life’s 2net software and hardware into their offerings.
Rick Valencia, vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Life, said: "[The council] gives us the opportunity to bring thought leaders together to define and broaden our vision and impact.
Qualcomm Ventures in December was given management of a $100m life fund to invest in wireless technology for medical devices yesterday, which is designed to help roll out Qualcomm Life’s 2net wireless platform.
