US-based semiconductor company Qualcomm has led a $1.8m seed funding round into US-based cloud telephony platform Plivo. There was also participation from venture firms Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures, and SV Angel.
This round of funding takes the total raised by Plivo, which was founded in 2011, to $2.2m. Earlier this year incubation programme Y Combinator, a Silicon Valley seed fund, invested $1.7m. Last year start-up accelerator Morpheus invested $10,000 as well as a further $250,000 from Morpheus’ investment partners which included Seeders Venture Capital.
The new funds will mainly be used by Plivo for increasing their sales and marketing efforts.
