Shamsiev conducts departure from Tokyo Electron

Vosik Shamsiev will depart from TEL Venture Capital, the corporate venturing unit owned by Japan-based electronics and semiconductor manufacturer Tokyo Electron, tomorrow.

Shamsiev joined TEL VC in early 2014 as a venture partner after four years handling business development duties in Tokyo Electron’s solar photovoltaic division. He is leaving in order to relocate to Toronto, Canada where he plans to pursue new challenges.

TEL VC focuses on areas such as semiconductors, renewable energy and energy storage, healthcare, lighting, photonics and electronics production technology. Companies to have received funding from the unit since Shamsiev joined include hybrid materials producer SBA Materials.

Jacques Berg, TEL VC’s vice-president of EU, will take over Shamsiev’s duties in Europe while Tsuyoshi Mihara, a venture partner at the unit since 2012, will do the same in Japan.
