ShotTracker, the US-based basketball statistics technology developer backed by advertising agency R/GA, has secured $10.4m in a series A round led by investment firm Ward Ventures.
Elysian Park Ventures, which manages baseball team LA Dodgers’ venture capital fund, also took part in the round, as did Greycroft Partners, KC Rise Fund, Irish Angels, SeventySix Capital and angel investors David Stern and Ryan Howard.
ShotTracker has built a sensor-based system that can compile basketball statistics and performance analytics in real time. It works by combining sensors in the rafters of an arena with smaller sensors focusing on the ball and players.
The round took the company’s overall funding to $21m, $5m of which came in a late 2016 round featuring R/GA, Elysian Park Ventures, Greycroft, Stern and former basketball all-star Magic Johnson.
