Trusona entrusts corporates in $20m round

US-based identity verification platform developer Trusona has secured $20m from investors including cloud services provider Akamai Technologies and M12, the corporate venturing vehicle for software provider Microsoft.

The round was led by Georgian Partners and also featured OurCrowd, Kleiner Perkins, Seven Peaks Ventures and undisclosed existing investors.

Founded in 2015, Trusona provides identity verification technology that lends greater security to online services by employing biometrics and physical tokens in addition to conventional passwords.

The company raised $10m in a 2017 series B round led by M12 that included Kleiner Perkins predecessor Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, after the latter had led its $8m series A round the previous year.

Seven Peaks and OurCrowd were identified as existing investors, and Trusona also named 2M Investment Partners among its backers.
