Vay Sports kicks off with corporate funds

Switzerland-based fitness app developer Vay Sports has launched its product with an undisclosed amount of funding from investors including telecommunications firm Swisscom and artificial intelligence market network WelcomeAI, StartupTicker has reported.

University of Zurich (UHZ) and accelerator Swiss Startup Factory are also among the company’s investors, according to its website.

Spun out of UHZ, Vay Sports has developed a mobile app that relies on computer vision and AI to offer users real-time feedback on their posture, ensuring optimal performance during workouts and helping to prevent injury.

The workouts have been created by experts such as former professional athlete Dave Dollé, who represented Switzerland in two World Championships in Athletics in the 1990s.

The app keeps track of a user’s progress and provides guidance on how they can further improve. It currently operating in beta allowing testing by up to 1,000 users, and a final version is scheduled for release in September 2019.
