Lithuania-based peer-to-peer fashion marketplace Vinted secured $27m on Wednesday in a series C round co-led by media conglomerate Hubert Burda Media and venture capital firms Accel Partners and Insight Venture Partners.
Founded in 2008, Vinted operates a website and smartphone app through which users can sell, swap and buy clothes and other fashion accessories.
The company will use the money to expand into additional geographies, focusing particularly on locations outside of Europe and the US where it has already established a presence.
Accel and Insight previously injected $27m in series B funding into Vinted in January 2014, following a $6.6m series A round in 2013 also backed by Accel.
Justas Janauskas, CEO and co-founder of Vinted, said: “Hubert Burda Media is an ideal partner to drive our international growth. Burda’s expertise in lifestyle media and scaling digital communities will be a major source of support for our expansion, which we will begin in early 2016.”
