MiRagen Therapeutics gains $20m

Remeditex Ventures, a US-based venture capital (VC) firm set up by former executives at Hunt Petroleum and technology transfer professionals at Texas University’s UT Southwestern Medical Center, led MiRagen’s round, and was joined by peers Atlas Venture, Boulder Ventures and Broadview Ventures, as well as Amgen.

Terascala stores strategic cash

Steve Butler, chief executive of Terascala, said: “Our pioneering work in developing a software stack that delivers optimized, scalable I/O [input/output] on industry-standard storage appliances enables organizations to accelerate big data applications, and clearly, industry leaders are taking notice.”

Viddy gains media angels

News provider VentureBeat said actor Will Smith’s Overbook Entertainment and rapper Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, along with singer Shakira, skateboarder Rob Dyrdek, soccer star Gerard Pique, Skull Candy chairman Jeff Kear, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, ShoeDazzle founder Brian Lee and Omniture founder Josh James have all invested or partnered with Viddy.
