21Buttons, a Spain-based fashion e-commerce platform backed by media company Mediaset, has completed a $17m series B round led by venture capital and private equity firm Idinvest Partners, EU-Startups has reported.
Sabadell VC, the venture capital branch of financial services firm Banco Sabadell, also took part in the round, along with Kibo Ventures, Breega Capital, JME Venture Capital, 360 Capital Partners and Samaipata Ventures.
21Buttons is the operator of a social-focused fashion e-commerce platform that enables users to share photos of their outfits, gaining commissions after others use the posts as the basis for their own purchases.
Each time a user makes a post, the individual items can be accessed through a click. The platform is available in the UK, Italy and Germany, and has almost 2 million users. 21Buttons will use the funding to expand into the US and other European markets this year.
The round increased 21Buttons’ overall funding to approximately $31m since it was founded in 2015. Mediaset first invested as part of a $3.2m round in February 2017 that included Sabadell Venture Capital, 360 Capital Partners, Breega Capital, Sputnik and VenturCap.
Kibo Ventures and JME Venture Capital co-led 21Buttons’ $10m series A round in October 2017, investing alongside Mediaset, Sabadell Venture Capital, Breega Capital, Sputnik, 360 Capital Partners and Samaipata Ventures.
