23andMe, a personal genetics company backed by the corporate venturing units of US-based search engine Google and US-based healthcare company Johnson and Johnson, has bought CureTogether, a US-based patient-driven research company.
In 2010 23andMe’ C round raised more than $22m from Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, New Enterprise Associates and Google Ventures. An update filing with US regulator Securities and Exchange Commission. said the company had gone on to increase this round to $27.8m.
In 2009, the company also raised $27.8m, according to an SEC filing.
Google also backed 23andMe’s A round in 2007, along with healthcare company Genentech and venture firms Mohr Davidow Ventures and New Enterprise Associates. An SEC filing said the company had raised $9m.
23andMe was co-founded by Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s wife Anne Wojcicki in 2006.
