US-based search engine Google’s corporate venturing unit has helped Egnyte, a US-based file sharing company, raise $16m.
Google Ventures was joined in the series C round by venture firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Polaris Venture Partners. Karim Faris, a partner at Google Ventures will join the baord of Egnyte.

Egnyte´s market momentum, technology strengths, and vision for the future were key in our decision to lead the round. Egnyte is developing a new approach to cloud computing and we are excited to be working with them.”
Egnyte was founded in 2007 and is also backed by the Floodgate fund.
