Corporates back Malaysian investor matching initiative

The government-owned Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation has partnered venture capital fund KK Fund to launch a corporate-backed investor-matching scheme for startups dealing with the coronavirus crisis, Digital News Asia reported on Friday.

Meet Your Match Malaysia will concentrate on internet and mobile-focused startups and its 60 investment partners include e-commerce data provider Aucfan, diversified conglomerate Sumitomo, banking firm KEB Hana and telecommunications firm SoftBank.

Media group Hubert Burda, game publisher Colopl, payment services firm Credit Saison and digital media company Gree are also participating, through Burda Principal Investments, Colopl Next, Saison Capital and Strive VC respectively.

Additional backers include quantitative trading firm Susquehanna International Group and MDI Ventures, a subsidiary of telecoms company Telkom Group, as well as SPH Ventures, which represents media group Singapore Press Holdings, and Sun SEA Capital, a partnership between KK Fund and conglomerate Sunway.
