Tokyu Accelerate Program (TAP), an accelerator sponsored by Japan-based railway company Tokyu Corporation, has held the demo day for its 2019 batch.
Launched in 2015, TAP holds an annual initiative that promotes open innovation on behalf of the Tokyu group of companies, partnering startups developing strategically relevant technologies in sectors including consumer, entertainment, mobility and tourism for their business operations.
The fifth edition’s culminating event took place at Tokyu’s open innovation facility, Shibuya Open Innovation Lab (Soil), with six startups receiving awards.
Subsclife, a furniture subscription service spun off from smart household technology developer Kamarq Holdings, received approximately $9,800 as part of the Tokyu Prize.
The $3,800 Shibuya Award went to 5G-enabled mixed reality technology developer Barus while Luup, which provides an electric kickboard rental service, got the Futakotamagawa Prize of $2,200.
The Soil Award honourees, which collected $900 each, were consumer-oriented accessory design app operator Fun Up, sales automation technology developer Self Link and Sora, which offers a software tool dubbed MagicPrice that determines prices for hotels and parking spaces.
