Marknum spies series B funding

Marknum Technology, a China-based security technology developer backed by consumer data analyser Winner Technology, raised more than RMB100m ($14.1m) in series B funding on Wednesday.

The round was co-led by venture capital firms GSR Ventures and Chenhui Venture Capital and also featured Zhuhai Xiongdiweier Industrial Equity Investment Limited Partnership and Zhuhai Weier Capital, part of Gongqingcheng Weier Innovation Investment Management.

Marknum produces artificial intelligence and big data technology for use in public security and surveillance, including wireless sensors, geographical data monitoring software and a software product that can study past police events to predict the structure of future crime.

The funding has been allocated to market expansion and research and development activities, as Marknum seeks to beef up its AI capabilities.

Although the company has not disclosed details of its earlier funding, its earlier investors include consumer data analysis service Winner Technology, technology investment firm Hongem and VC firm Gobi Partners’ Gobi HiTech Fund, according to DealStreetAsia.
