Creighton Hicks has left his partner role at Dell Technologies Capital, the corporate venturing subsidiary of US-based computing equipment provider Dell, to join venture capital firm LiveOak Venture Partners.
Hicks came to Dell Technologies Capital from venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2017 and concentrated on cloud computing, DevOps and cybersecurity technology deals. His investments included CloudKnox, Datometry and FullStory, taking a board seat at each company.
LiveOak has hired Hicks as a principal and the position will involve him relocating from Silicon Valley to Austin, Texas where the firm is located. He will focus on deal sourcing and portfolio management for LiveOak, which typically leads seed-stage rounds for local IT and technology startups.
Hicks said: “At the core of every great startup is a great team. Austin’s and more broadly Texas’s status as one of the most attractive and fastest-growing tech markets is driving an influx of talent and founders.
“The high calibre of entrepreneurs that have chosen to partner LiveOak is impressive and speaks to LiveOak’s reputation as the area’s leading early-stage investor. I am excited to join the partnership and back founders building category-leading technology companies that call Texas home.”
