Investor AB finds HireVue is right candidate

Digital job interviewing platform HireVue has closed a $17m series C round, led by Investor Growth Capital, the venture unit of industrial holding company Investor AB. The series C was part of a larger financing drive by HireVue that totalled $22m.

Other investors included existing investors Granite Ventures and Peterson Ventures. The venture firms were joined by newcomers investment firm Rose Park Advisors and law firm Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati.

The additional $5m was raised through an expansion of the company’s debt facility.

HireVue has now raised $23m in total venture funding. Peterson led the Utah-based firm’s $1m series A round in September 2009, and were joined by the Garber Fund, which is managed by the Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship division of PennState University. Peterson again participated in HireVue’s $5m series B round in July 2010, which was led by Granite.

“HireVue’s on-demand digital interviews are a game-changer for anyone who’s hiring. Already being used by hundreds of global companies and small businesses, HireVue’s quickly becoming the new digital standard for making interviewing a consistent, data-driven process,” said Phil Dur, managing director at IGC.

He added: “Leading this round of funding is an incredible opportunity for us to be an integral part of a company with tremendous growth potential.”

“HireVue is effectively changing the way that people around the world are getting hired,” said David Bradford, chief executive officer at HireVue. “Bringing in this diverse, world-class group of funding partners further validates the need for a solution like HireVue’s and solidly fuels the company’s aggressive plans to modernize recruiting and expand our services to a global job market. With the U.S. unemployment rate at more than 8 percent, despite millions of open jobs, I cannot think of a better time to address this critical problem.”
