Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the US-based media company, has invested in Skype-calling-on-your-TV startup Tely Labs. Early stage venture capital firm, DCM, also participated in the Series A round of funding. Tely Labs raised $13m of a $15m round according to a new filing with the SEC.
Tely Labs, which was founded in 2010, offers users HD systems to make Skype calls to their TV with no monthly fee.
Comcast Ventures is the venture capital arm of Comcast Corporation. Comcast Ventures invests in businesses creating entertainment, communications and digital technology.
DCM has been in operation since 1996 and manage seven funds worth more than $2bn. DCM has invested in more than 200 technology companies across the US and Asia.
