Roamler walks away with new funding

Netherlands-based outsourcing platform operator Roamler received €20m ($22.4m) from investors including Achmea Innovation Fund, a corporate venturing vehicle for healthcare insurer Achmea, yesterday.

Growth equity firm Endeit Capital and venture capital fund SmartFin filled out the round. It came after $725,000 from an unnamed individual in 2011 and $5.1m from investors including Endeit Capital in 2016.

Roamler has developed an online marketplace for crowdsourced business-to-business services, allowing firms to hire on-demand professionals to carry out specific tasks such as technical installations, service and repair jobs.

The fresh funding will go toward expanding the company’s presence internationally, boosting its services in the UK and Germany, and increasing its IT and data science staff. The round represents the first investment by Achmea Innovation Fund.

Jeroen ten Haave, Roamler’s chief executive, said: “Thanks to this new round of investments, we are confident we can further develop our range of services, combining our highly skilled on-demand community of workers, with a completely data-driven approach.

“It has always been our mission to change the way people and companies work. Our business model enables companies to easily up- and downscale operations and get their results faster. At the same time, it allows independent professionals to access more opportunities when and where they want.”
