US-based children’s activity provider The OK Company launched yesterday with $11m in funding from investors including Lego Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of toy brand Lego, Dot.LA reported.
VC firms Obvious Ventures, Forerunner Ventures and Greycroft are also among the company’s investors, as are Abstract Ventures, Dreamers VC and Collab+Sesame, the partnership between children’s programming provider Sesame Street and Collaborative Fund.
OK Company is the creator of OK Play, a mobile app that provides activities designed to help parents and children bond through creativity and conversation. It was launched yesterday and the paid version of the app costs $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
JJ Aguhob, chief executive of OK Company, told Dot.LA: “We are not just going to make traditional entertainment because it is the thing that you do. We are going to create a new interactive experience that brings families together. And from that, the media is going to look different.”
