Digital payment software producer Klarna has acquired the intellectual property and team of Woilà, a Sweden-based aftersales service provider backed by media company Schibsted, for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2017, Woilà has built an algorithm-powered analytics app that provides consumer support in the post-transaction phase, including refunds if a product’s price is reduced after purchase, or for public transport that arrives late.
Woilà has handled $50m of transactions so far this year, and Klarna will leverage its experience and personnel to enhance its own users’ shopping experience. The acquisition did not entail the transferring of customers’ personal data.
Schibsted led a $3.1m round for Woilà in February 2020, according to Fintech Futures. It is unclear whether the company had received previous funding and the identity of any other shareholders were not disclosed.
