O’Reilly AlphaTech raises $85m fund

San Francisco based O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures (OATV) has concluded financing for their third venture fund with a final sum of $85m. OATV was founded in 2007 by Bryce Roberts, Marc Jacobsen, and Tim O’Reilly as an independent firm which makes investments on behalf of O’Reilly Media, it specialises in seed stage financing for tech startups.

Over the years the firm has invested in successful tech startups including url shortener Bitly, and social media platform foursquare. Its two previous funds closed in 2007 and 2010 at $51m and $59m respectively.
