Gree, a social gaming company, has expanded its focus on second party mobile games development with a $3m investment into Munky Fun, a maker of games such as My Horse and Bounty Bots, via the establishment of its new mobile investment fund managed by a new publishing and partnerships group.
This is the fund’s first investment and is the latest in a series of commitments by Gree to first party and second party titles including full-out acquisitions of mobile game developers App Ant for an undisclosed amount in September 2012, a $210m deal to buy Funzio and Investment in IUGO Entertainment earlier this year.
Gree is now focusing its US business primarily on its own titles and the development of partner titles, as part of the company’s internal US reorganization.
Gree’s US operation is continuing to build a strong portfolio of mobile games which include recently launched titles Monster Quest and MLB: Full Deck.
