Existing backers Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of search engine Google, and venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz have participated in a $9m Series A round for data analytics startup ClearStory Data. There was also involvement from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & byers.
Mike Abbott, a managing partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, will now join ClearStory’s Board of Directors.
Abbott said: “We share ClearStory Data’s vision of an enormous market opportunity for everyday business users to work with big, diverse data easily and quickly, we’re investing in a proven team, a market-changing platform and an opportunity that promises to disrupt, bringing big data into the hands of the true business user beyond the specialized domain of data scientists and quants.”
Clearstory raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from a syndicate, which included Google, in March.
