Ilka Wicke has been appointed head of Making More Health (MMH), an impact investment partnership between Germany-based pharmaceutical firm Boehringer Ingelheim and non-government organisation Ashoka.
Wicke had been an investment director at Boehringer Ingelheim’s corporate venture capital unit, Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund (BIVF), and was a 2018 GCV Rising Stars award winner.
MMH was established to help make vulnerable communities healthier, and Wicke says in her LinkedIn profile that her responsibility will be to “source social innovation to explore unconventional partnerships and business models, including donations and impact investments”.
Wicke had spent the past decade at BIVF and her deals included Promethera Bioscience, Pcovery, MetaboMed, Anagenesis and Cardior. She has also been on the investment committee of state and corporate-backed VC fund High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF).
