Nike launches Nike+ Accelerator

Nike has launched ‘Nike+ Accelerator, which is powered by accelerator TechStars, who have raised $275m in venture capital for it graduates, in a mentor campagin which will host 10 companies for a three month start-up accelerator.

TechStars will facilitate the program and the chief executive, David Cohen, will serve as a mentor, according to Nike’s press release.

Cohen said :“Microsoft launched the Seattle-based Microsoft Accelerator in January, and it’s now in the middle of the second program after a very successful first program”.

The US-based Nike+ program will begin in March and run through to June. Similar to TechStars’ Demo Day, the Nike+ Accelerator will end with technology investor demonstration days, including a day in California’s Silicon Valley.

Other mentors will include Nike’s vice president of digital sport, Stefan Olander and Naveen Selvadurai, co-founder of Foursquare.

The Nike+ Accelerator will accept applications from companies that use Nike+ fitness technology to create products and services that will inspire athletes across a broad range of activities.
