Workit wires in $12m

Workit Health, the US-based developer of a telemedicine system for substance use disorders, raised $12m yesterday from investors including Blue Venture Fund, which represents 36 Blue Cross and Blue Shield health insurers.

Venture capital firm FirstMark Capital led a round also featuring Lux Capital, GingerBread Capital and actor Rob Lowe.

Founded in 2015, Workit provides addiction recovery tools through its web and mobile apps in addition to video consultations with counsellors, virtual drug testing tools and admittance to online recovery groups. It can be accessed individually or through employers or healthcare plans.

Montage Ventures, Lux Capital, Wakestream Ventures, Invest Detroit and RRE Ventures joined Detroit Ventures and Impact Engine in the company’s $1.1m seed round in 2016 and returned for a January 2019 series A round of undisclosed size with Blue Venture Fund and Endeavor Catalyst.
