SnagFilms, an online streaming and embedding service for independent films, has raised $6m in its series C round from a consortium including Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing fund of the eponymous cable company.
CNF Investments, the corporate venturing unit of Clark Enterprises, led the C round, which included media executives Ted Leonsis, who founded Snagfilms after working at internet services provider AOL, Terry Semel, founder of Yahoo, Steve Case, founder of AOL, journalism charity Knight Foundation, venture capital firm NEA, as well as Comcast.
In February last year, Snagfilms raised $7m encompassing both debt and equity financing.
The $2.5m debt financing was provided by way of a debt facility secured from the Silicon Valley Bank. The $7m round followed a $10m round raised in January last year from Comcast Ventures and NEA.
