GV, the corporate venturing subsidiary of internet and technology group Alphabet formerly known as Google Ventures, has led a $15m series A round for UK-based consumer technology developer Nothing.
Founded in October 2020, Nothing is still in stealth mode and has not disclosed the details of its prospective product, but said it is “dedicated to removing the barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future”.
The startup was co-founded by CEO Carl Pei, who had co-founded consumer electronics producer OnePlus in 2013. It had previously raised about $7m from angel investors including Casey Neistat, Kevin Lin, Steve Huffman and Kunal Shah.
Tom Hulme, general partner at GV, said: “Carl Pei is a seasoned entrepreneur with marketing, hardware and distribution experience that is key to bringing new devices to market.
“His vision for smart devices is compelling, and we have high confidence that with Carl’s global mindset, the Nothing team will have a meaningful impact on the market for consumer technology.”
