China-based customer service software developer Leyan Technologies has raised about RMB200m ($30.8m) in a series C3 round led by e-commerce group Alibaba, DealStreetAsia reported on Monday.
Although the precise size of the round was not disclosed, the report cited a statement revealing the deal increased the company’s total series C funding to over RMB500m, following RMB300m across series C1 and C2 rounds.
Founded in 2016, Leyan has developed software that uses artificial intelligence technology to facilitate customer service activities for businesses in the e-commerce, education, government and healthcare sectors.
The platform also leverages deep learning technology and natural language processing to provide services such as product recommendations and cloud-based marketing.
Leyan closed a series C2 round led by Sky9 Capital at $22.2m in September 2020, fourth months after Blue Lake Capital and Eastern Bell Venture Capital co-led a $21.1m series C1 round that also featured internet company Beijing Kunlun Technology, Ivy Capital, Yunfeng Capital and ZWC Partners.
The company had received an undisclosed amount in a series B round backed by ZWC Partners in 2019, following an undisclosed amount of series A-plus funding from investors including Yunfeng Capital the previous year.
Ameba Capital, Ivy Capital, Shanghai Minhang District Finance Bureau, Chuxin Capital, Yuema Capital and Yimei Capital had supplied a total of $3.2m for Leyan through three rounds across 2016 and 2017.
