Media broadcasting software provider Operative announced the acquisition of Staq, a US-based developer of advertising data collection software, for an undisclosed amount yesterday, allowing mass media group Comcast to exit.
Staq has developed a software platform that helps customers collect, organise and automate data on advertising revenue in order to locate any issues. The deal, expected to officially close in the coming days, will enhance Operative’s own data capabilities.
The company had secured a total of $13.6m in funding across four rounds, the most recent coming in 2018 when Comcast subsidiary Comcast Ventures joined Pereg Ventures, Genacast Ventures, Core Capital and Kinetic Ventures to invest $2m.
Kinetic Ventures, Genacast Ventures and Core Capital were all existing investors, and Staq’s earlier backers include Revel Partners and The Hive.
