Asapp picks up $120m series C

Asapp, a US-based developer of an artificial intelligence-equipped customer support platform, obtained $120m in a series C round yesterday backed by Telstra Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of telecommunications firm Telstra.

Fidelity Management & Research, Dragoneer, March Capital, Emergence Capital, Euclidean Capital, Hof Capital, 40 North Ventures and private investor John Doerr also participated in the round, which valued Asapp at $1.6bn.

Founded in 2014, Asapp has developed a platform to help customer support and sales agents choose the optimal action when dealing with customers on the phone or through chat. It will use the series C capital to further invest in its technology.

Jason Green, founder of Emergence Capital, has joined Asapp’s board of directors.

Asapp has now raised $400m in funding altogether, it said. Telstra Ventures previously backed a $185m series B round in May 2020, when Emergence Capital, March Capital, Euclidean Capital, Hof Capital, Vast Ventures and private investors including Doerr also invested.
