Natera, a US-based provider of a non-invasive prenatal genetics tests formerly known as Gene Security Network until the start of last year, has raised $54.6m in its series E round from a consortium including undisclosed investors assumed to include at least one corporate backer.
Venture capital firms OrbiMed Advisors and Harmony Partners co-led the round, and were joined by the new firms and return backers, VC peers Claremont Creek Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Founders Fund and Sequoia Capital.
Natera has partnerships with New York-listed Quest Diagnostics and Arup Laboratories to roll out its prenatal genetic screening service in the US.
As Gene Security Network, Natera had raised $20m in January 2012 from Lightspeed, Claremont Creek and Sequoia. Its C round closed in November 2010 at $12m, which was double the $6m B round in January 2009.
