Zephyr, an Annapolis, Maryland-based firm that makes gadgets for real-time physiological and biomechanical monitoring, has raised $2.44m, or nearly three-fourths of a $3m share offering, from three investors.
3M New Ventures, the corporate venture organization of 3M, Alsop Louie Partners, and iGlobe Partners participated in the fundraising.
Zephyr has previously raised $2m from investors including Motorola Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the communications and telecom provider, as well as 3M New Ventures and Alsop Louie Partners.
Founded in 2003, Zephyr has collaborations with fire departments, NASA Ames Research Center and National Guard Civil Support Teams. It has received multiple US Special Forces contracts that have helped in the development and validation of its technology, and its application in the most extreme operating environments.
