Hopin, the US-based developer of a virtual events platform, secured $450m in a series D round yesterday backed by Slack Fund and Salesforce Ventures, respective vehicles for messaging platform Slack and cloud computing firm Salesforce.
Arena Holdings and Altimeter Capital co-led the round, which also featured Adams Street Partners, Untitled Investments, XN, Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z), DFJ Growth, General Catalyst, GIC, IVP, Northzone, Temasek and Tiger Global.
Founded in 2019, Hopin operates a platform that can power in-person, virtual and hybrid events using live video, interactive tools and on-site services such as badges. It will use the money to further scale its platform and build additional features.
Hopin raised $400m in series C financing from investors including Salesforce Ventures in March this year. The round was co-led by IVP, A16Z and General Catalyst, while also attractingCoatue, DFJ Growth, Northzone and Tiger Global Management.
IVP led a $125m series B round in November 2020, when Salesforce Ventures, Tiger Global, Coatue, Northzone, DFJ Growth, Accel and Seedcamp also invested.
Salesforce Ventures and Slack Fund contributed to a $40m series A round in June 2020 that was also led by IVP and additionally included Accel, Northzone and Seedcamp.
Hopin collected $6.5m in a seed round in February 2020, when Slack Fund made its first investment. The round included technology event promoter Web Summit’s corporate venture capital unit Amaranthine Fund as well as Northzone and Seedcamp.
