In-Q-Tel partners with HyTrust

HyTrust, a cloud security automation company, has raised $12.5m in series C funding from new investors VMWare, a US software company, and In-Q-Tel (IQT), the technology accelerator of the US government’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).  IQT has also signed a technology development agreement with HyTrust, in addition to its strategic investment.

Additional commitments have been made by HyTrust’s existing investors, US network systems company Cisco Systems, and venture capital firms Granite Ventures, Trident Capital and Epic Ventures.

HyTrust has raised total funding of approximately $28m.

Robert Ames, senior vice president in charge of IQT’s Information and Communication Technologies Practice, said: “The assurance of critical infrastructure and data assets is paramount, and we believe that the HyTrust solution has the potential to greatly benefit our government customers.”

Eric Chiu, HyTrust president and co-founder, said: “This funding and strategic relationship with IQT enables us to deliver the right features at scale to address market opportunity and demand, while focusing on the unique requirements of multiple government agency partners.”
