Samsung Venture Investment Company, the venture capital division of South Korean conglomerate Samsung, has invested in CareInSync, a US-based patient care coordination platform.
Samsung joins CareInSync’s existing investors HealthTech Capital (a group of private investors), philanthropic organisation California Health Care Foundation, and Hearst Business Media, a division of media group Hearst Corporation.
CareInSync will use the investment to enhance its evidence-based care coordination solution with secure mobile communications technology and to expand its mobile offering to the Android platform.
Siva Subramanian, chief operating officer and founder of CareInSync, said: “With an estimated 70 percent of all healthcare errors attributed to communication failures, CareInSync is solving one of healthcare’s most dangerous problems: communication gaps that occur during patient care transitions. While solving the communications problem, protecting patient privacy and security is paramount. CareInSync is committed to leveraging smart phones and tablets to help healthcare providers deliver better care at lower cost in a safe, secure manner.”
