US-based remote communication network operator PubNub has raised $65m in series E funding featuring enterprise technology provider Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and industrial technology provider Robert Bosch.
Merchant bank The Raine Group led the round, which also included Sapphire Ventures and which took the company’s overall funding to more than $130m.
PubNub has built a data software platform and application programming interfaces that help app developers create and run real-time digital frameworks for various services covering areas such as work, entertainment, education and healthcare.
HPE and Robert Bosch had backed a $23m series D round for the company in 2019, participating alongside investors including networking equipment manufacturer Cisco and communication technology provider Ericsson.
Cisco Investments represented Cisco in the series D round, which was filled out by Sapphire Ventures, Relay Ventures and Scale Venture Partners.
Cisco Investments and Ericsson had provided $6m for the company in 2016, after a Sapphire Ventures-led $25m series C round the previous year featuring Robert Bosch subsidiary Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Relay Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Sound Ventures, Tie Angels and Envision Ventures.
Scale Venture Partners had led an $11m series B round for PubNub in 2013, and was joined by Tie Angels and Relay Ventures. The last two had supplied $4.5m in series A funding the year before.
