US-based spatial analysis platform Carto secured $61m in a series C round featuring enterprise software provider Salesforce and media group Hearst’s respective corporate venturing units Salesforce Ventures and Hearst Ventures. The round was led by venture capital firm Insight Partners and featured the European Innovation Council Fund, Accel, Earlybird and Kibo.
Canada-based supplier data platform for procurement TealBook raked in $50m in a series B round backed by financial data and analytics provider S&P Global and enterprise software provider Workday (through its Workday Ventures unit). Ten Coves Capital led the round with participation from financial services firm Royal Bank of Canada, CIBC Ventures, BDC Capital, Grand Ventures, RBC Ventures, Reciprocal Ventures, Refinery Ventures, RTP Global, Stand Up Ventures and Good Friends, and it included $10m in debt financing from CIBS Innovation Banking.
Guardio, an Israel-based cybersecurity technology provider, raised $47m in a funding round closed at a $500m valuation that featured electronics manufacturer Samsung’s corporate venturing subsidiary Samsung Next, TechCrunch has reported. Tiger Global Management led the round, investing alongside Vintage, Emerge, Cerca Partners and Union.
Pair Eyewear, a customisable direct-to-consumer eyewear provider, raised $60m in series B funding in what it claims is the largest series B for any eyewear company. Connect Ventures, an investment partnership between talent agency Creative Artists Agency and NEA, took part in the round alongside Javelin Venture, Norwest Venture Partners and individual investors including Olivia Culpo, Sterling Brown, D’Angelo Russell, Christian McCaffrey, Ninja and Rick Yang.
Apex.ai, a US-based developer of automotive onboard operating systems, raised $56.5m in a series B round featuring Airbus Ventures, Hella Ventures, InMotion Ventures, Toyota Ventures and Volvo Group Venture Capital, respective vehicles for aerospace manufacturer Airbus, automotive parts producer Hella and carmakers Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota and Volvo. Agricultural machinery producer Agco and supply chain providers Continental and ZF also took part alongside Lightspeed Venture Partners, Canaan and unnamed other investors in the round, which was led by Orillion.
Garner Health, a US-based platform that reviews and compares doctors, secured $45m in series B funding from Optum Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of healthcare company Optum. Redpoint Ventures led the round with participation from Founders Fund and Thrive Capital.
Freelance creative network platform Superside raised $30m in funding backed by internet company Prosus and Slack Fund, an investment subsidiary of workplace collaboration platform Slack. Prosus co-led the round through its corporate venturing unit Prosus Ventures with Lugard Road Capital. Acequia Capital also participated.
Digital entertainment and blockchain technology developer Animoca Brands led a $30m series B round for Hong Kong-based accelerator Brinc. The company earmarked an additional $100m to invest in startups through its accelerator programmes.
Hive Technologies, a US-based electric vehicle leasing and ride hailing platform, obtained $30m in funding from clean energy company iSun. The round was filled out by Galway Sustainable Capital, Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator’s Impact Fund and unnamed individuals from the renewables and real estate sectors.
Chequer, the US-based developer data governance platform QueryPie, raised $17.7m in a seed round featuring internet company Kakao’s corporate venturing arm Kakao Investment. Atinum Investment and Murex Partners co-led the round, which included KB Investment, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Mirae Asset Capital, Primer Sazze Partners and Y-Combinator.
Japan-based family trust digitisation service Famitra has received ¥1.4bn ($12.3m) in series A funding from investors including insurer Tokio Marine Nichido as well as Aflac Ventures, DG Daiwa Ventures and Eight Roads Ventures Japan, respective vehicles for insurance provider Aflac, internet company Digital Garage and financial services and investment firm Fidelity. VC firm Coral Capital filled out the round alongside financial services provider Mizuho Bank, taking the company’s overall funding to roughly ¥1.7bn ($14.9m).
PrimeNumber, the Japan-based operator of data integration automation tool Trocco, has secured ¥1.3bn ($11.4m) in a series B round co-led by Coral Capital and One Capital and backed by SBI Investment, SMBC Venture Capital and Daiwa Corporate Investment, respective subsidiaries of financial services firms SBI and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation as well as brokerage Daiwa Securities.
Australia-based synthetic biology manufacturer Provectus Algae raised $11.4m in pre-series A funding co-led by Hitachi Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of electronics manufacturer Hitachi. Vectr Ventures also co-led the round with participation from Possible Ventures, Acequia Capital and unnamed existing and private investors.
Talent agency United Talent Agency invested in a $7m seed round for Danvas, a US-based company working to bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through museum displays. Investing through its CVC unit UTA Ventures, United Talent Agency was joined by Greycroft, VaynerFund, Waverley Capital, Lerer Hippeau, BDMI and angel investors Rich Greenfield and Jason Nazar.
Teneo Ventures, the CVC arm of public relations and advisory firm Teneo, invested in a $5.5m series A round for Enquire AI, a US-based artificial intelligence-powered platform for businesses to find subject matter expertise. Business data aggregator Uzabase led the round and was joined by Blu Ventures and unnamed angel investors.
Remote education platform provider Educate Online raised $4m in seed funding from IT services provider Softline, TechCrunch has reported. Xploration Capital, TMT Investments, Angelsdeck and Flyer One Ventures filled out the participants.
Kaico, a Japan-headquartered silk moth-derived drug developer spun out of Kyushu University, has raised a ¥260m ($2.3m) extension for its latest round featuring conglomerate Sojitz, algae-based food and cosmetics developer Euglena, leasing services firm Tokyo Century and venture capital vehicle Real Tech Fund, which took its series A round to ¥520m ($4.6m).
Design firm Ideo’s investment arm Ideo CoLab Ventures, digital entertainment and blockchain technology developer Animoca Brands, media company Victory Creative Group and talent agency CAA Sports invested in a $4.5m growth round into metaverse play-to-earn basketball league Rumble Kong League. JDS Crypto led the round, which was filled out by Framework Ventures, SkyVision Capital, private investors Sebastien Borget, Paul George, Arthur Madrid and unnamed others.
Digital entertainment and blockchain technology developer Animoca Brands, gaming guild Yield Guild Games, metaverse company GuildFi and crypto exchanges Coin98 and Raydium invested in a $1.8m seed round for soccer-themed non-fungible token (NFT)-based game CyBall, VentureBeat has reported. The round included Bitkraft Ventures, Ascensive Assets, Merit Circle, SkyVision Capital and unnamed others.
NFT-based game Legends of Mitra raised $1.45m from cryptocurrency exchange Okex, gaming guild Good Games Guild, decentralised application developer RocketBC and cryptocurrency exchange 3Commas. The round was filled out by Youbi Capital, M6, Klaytn, Metrix Capital, x21, Exnetwork Capital, Asteroid Capital, DWeb3, Icetea Labs, Shima Capital and Maven Capital. Algorand Foundation and Cronos blockchain also provided grants.
US-based sustainable agriculture company Hippo Harvest received an investment of undisclosed size from e-commerce company Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund.
Business chat service Chatwork has invested an undisclosed amount of funding in Japan-based recruitment cloud platform NetOn as part of a strategic partnership deal.
Poland-based nanosatellite technology developer SatRevolution secured an undisclosed amount of series B funding from Virgin Orbit, a launch and space technology subsidiary of conglomerate Virgin Group, at a $150m valuation.
Clean energy technology provider Catalyze made a strategic investment of undisclosed size into Microgrid Labs, a US-based software provider for fleet electrification and microgrids.
Conglomerate Triputra Group took part in a pre-series A round of undisclosed size into Indonesia-based supply chain services provider Praktis, Tech in Asia has reported. Venture capital firm East Ventures led the round.
