Nest Labs, a US-based maker of smart home devices including thermostats and smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, is reported in Re/code and other sources to be raising between $150m and $200m funding at a valuation of over $2bn, led by venture capital firm DST Global and including Google Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of internet search firm Google, amongst its follow-on investors.
Previously, in January 2013, Nest Labs reportedly raised $80m from a consortium led by Google Ventures at an $800m valuation; in November 2011, Nest reportedly raised about $50m from corporate venturing unit Google Ventures, corporate and professional services firm Intertrust, VC firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Shasta Ventures, and investment management firm Generation Investment Management.
