Funding

Media group Bonnier led a $21m series A round for Elypta, the Sweden-based developer of a liquid biopsy for early-stage cancer detection, through corporate venturing unit Bonnier Ventures today. The round also featured Navigare Ventures, on behalf of the Wallenberg Foundations’ Wallenberg Investments vehicle, in addition to Industrifonden, Norrsken VC, Nina Capital, Chalmers Ventures and Hillclimber.

M&A

Buggy has agreed to acquire Ninja Delivery, a Canada-based grocery delivery service backed by freight forwarder Flexport, for an undisclosed amount, The Globe and Mail has reported. Flexport had joined Contrary Capital and Lachy Groom in a $2.2m round for the startup in March this year.

Security equipment producer ADT has paid an undisclosed amount to purchase US-based home automation technology developer Iotas, allowing telecommunications firm Telus, mass media group Liberty Global and semiconductor technology producer Intel to exit. Telus subsidiary Telus Ventures led an $8.5m series A round for Iotas in 2019 that included Liberty Global, taking the company’s total funding past $17m. Intel unit Intel Capital was an earlier investor.
